The Boston Globe Visits The Charm on Main

We’ve always thought there was something rather special about this little corner of Brewster. It seems The Boston Globe agrees.

Travel writer Diane Bair recently visited The Charm on Main while exploring Cape Cod beyond the height of summer. Her resulting The Boston Globe travel feature, “It’s not too late to sneak down to the Cape for ‘second summer,’” includes The Charm as a home base for a fall Cape Cod visit.

Naturally, we’re blushing a little.

A Rather Charming Place to Call Home

There’s a particular pleasure to Cape Cod when things quiet down.

The roads are a little less hurried. The air is crisp. The light turns golden. There are days for biking and exploring, followed by evenings that call for lingering by the fire. Those unhurried contrasts between adventure and repose are very much part of the experience The Charm on Main was created to offer.

During the visit, Diane Bair had the opportunity to experience the inn firsthand before the resulting The Boston Globe feature highlighted The Charm’s historic character, 20 guest rooms, fire pit and outdoor heated pool. The piece also called attention to the cooking classes offered here at the inn and the access Charm guests receive to amenities at neighboring Ocean Edge Resort & Golf Club.

Those details are lovely, of course.

But the quiet moments in between might just be our favorite part.

A Storied Address, Reimagined

Long before The Charm on Main welcomed today’s travelers, this Brewster property had quite a few chapters of its own.

The grounds were once home to Sea Pines Camp and the Sea Pines School of Personality for Girls. Later, generations of Cape Cod visitors knew the property as the Sea Pines Inn. Today, the historic setting has been thoughtfully reimagined as a 20-room, adults-only boutique inn that honors its past while offering a decidedly more modern way to stay.

The result is a place with one foot rather gracefully in yesterday and the other firmly in today.
Throughout the inn, historic character meets modern comfort, from intimate guest rooms to select accommodations with sunrooms and soaking tubs. There are spaces to gather, spaces to read and plenty of opportunities to simply slow down.

A Boutique Inn With a Resort Down the Road

There is another detail that caught The Boston Globe’s attention: a stay at The Charm on Main stretches well beyond the inn itself.

As the sister property of Ocean Edge Resort & Golf Club, The Charm pairs the intimacy of a boutique stay in Brewster with access to Ocean Edge amenities and experiences. The The Boston Globe coverage specifically noted access to the fitness center, indoor and outdoor pools, tennis and pickleball courts, and private beach.

It’s the best of both worlds by design: a quieter retreat to come home to, with an expansive Cape Cod resort experience nearby.

Explore when the mood strikes. Then return to the inn, find a quiet corner and stay awhile.

No need to rush. That would rather defeat the purpose.

Come See What Caught The Boston Globe’s Eye

We are delighted to see The Charm on Main featured in The Boston Globe and even more delighted to see Brewster celebrated as a destination worth discovering beyond peak summer.

Of course, we could go on about the pleasures of a stay at The Charm.

But in this instance, we rather like letting someone else do the talking.
